Brand Supplied Data: SKU Attributes

This article will help you understand one of Daasity’s most flexible features—being able to customize data reporting by grouping based on SKU attributes which is your product characteristics, such as category, sub-category, size, color, or characteristics of your choosing. Daasity’s ‘out of box’ feature set can help ECommerce Merchants generate reports by SKU, Product Name, Product Type, and Product Variant. If there are higher level categories or more granular details you’d like to pull in, the SKU Attributes tab is the solution.

SKU Attributes Overview:

The SKU Attributes tab makes it easy to customize data reporting by grouping based on product characteristics. These classifications allow for analysis to be rolled up to different classifications From Explores, SKU Attributes can be found in the ‘SKU Hierarchy’ view.

Gathering Information to Complete SKU Attributes:

Before you start, you'll need: 

  • Required: SKUs 
  • Attributes for the SKUs (e.g., name, color, size)

Completing SKU Attributes:

To enter your SKU attributes, choose Brand Data under Data Sources from the Daasity menu: 

From the Brand Data screen, click on SKU Attributes:

Once you have clicked the SKU Attributes tab, you’ll see a Google Sheet like the one below: 

 

Here's what you need to know about the spreadsheet data as you enter it: 

Column  What it Means
Column Headers (Row)

These are the categories you are organizing your SKUs into (name, color, size, gender, etc.) 

The categories you input will appear under the SKU Hierarchy view when you Explore Data (ex. Changing ‘Category’ to ‘Collection’)

 

SKU 

(Required)

 

Consider this the unique identifier per row. This number must be unique and should be the SKU used as your Master SKU in Daasity. 
Attribute  You must enter at least one attribute (value) per row if using this tab. These attributes give you a way to organize your products by your custom attributes.

 

Customizing SKU Attributes:

The cells highlighted in Green (row 4) are completely customizable. You can assign each SKU up to ten (maximum) attributes, and must input at least one (minimum) if planning to use this tab. 

FAQ about SKU Attributes:

Q: What are some examples to show how SKU attributes can be used? 

A: A cosmetics store could set up a Lipstick Category to see how many lipsticks were sold. They could set up additional attributes like color or size to see how many red trial size lipsticks were sold. 

 

Q: Where will I see this data? 

A: Besides the SKU Hierarchy, you will also see this data in: 

  • Order Line Revenue 
  • Transactional Sales 
  • Product Affinity 
  • LTV by First Order SKU 
  • Inventory 

Q: Do I have to fill out all ten attributes? 

A: No, you only need to enter one attribute. 

 

Q: Why aren't my changes showing up immediately in my dashboards or reports? 

A: Daasity updates the spreadsheet information daily. If you want to see it immediately, click the Refresh button in the corner of the SKU Attributes box on the Daasity Brand Data page.

 

Q: Can I add columns or reformat the spreadsheet? 

A: Please do not add columns or otherwise reformat the spreadsheet. The data has to remain in the format provided to integrate properly into your data warehouse.
